Carpentry/Cabinetmaking Curriculum

Beloit Campus

The Carpentry/Cabinetmaking Program is designed to provide the skills, knowledge and pride of workmanship necessary to become a successful carpenter or cabinetmaker. Students will gain hands-on experience in planning, estimating, drawing and building the NCKTC Project House. Students who successfully complete the program of study will receive a Carpentry Certificate.

Program Objectives

  • Possess the knowledge to perform tasks related to entry-level employment in the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking field.
  • Demonstrate the skills appropriate to the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking industry.
  • Exhibit understanding of safety practices and procedures.
  • Use mathematical and technical data in relation to this program.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in relation to the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking industry.
  • Use appropriate human relations skills that contributes to an effective job performance.

  • The Building Construction Technology Program combines key components of four other programs. It is aimed at producing highly skilled individuals with the ability to perform multiple tasks related to the construction trades. This program gives students the option to select two of the following 9 month programs: Bricklaying, Carpentry, PHAC, and Residential Electricity. Upon successful completion of two programs and eighteen hours of General Education credits the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
