Welding

One Year Certificate

Program Description

In the Welding classroom the students will be involved in welding theory, blueprint reading, and template development for the pipe trades and welding safety.  Program consistently places in State and National Welding Competitions.  Students are employed in a variety of fields, from traveling welding/pipe crews to TIG shops in larger cities.

In the shop the students will be involved in all phases of the welding field, beginning with electric arc welding with the stick electrode, learning to do the weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead), MIG welding in all positions, and TIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, pipe and sheet.

Upon completion of the program the students can become a certified welder in various welding processes by successfully passing certification tests.

Job Titles & Salaries of Past Students Include:

  • Tank Structural Construction - ($17.00 to $23.00 per hour)
  • Piping - ($18.00 to $32.00 per hour)
  • Oilfield Maintenance and Repair - ($10.00 to $18.00 per hour)
  • Fabrication - ($11.50 to $18.00 per hour)

These salaries represent beginning salaries of graduates receiving a one year Certificate.
