Financial Aid is available in many forms for qualified applicants.

Federal Student Aid

Students demonstrating financial need may qualify for the following types of federal aid:

  • PELL Grant
  • Federal Supplemental Education Grant
  • Federal Work Study
  • Subsidized Stafford Loan

Scholarships

Numerous scholarships are available for students enrolled in a full-time program.  Contact the Financial Aid Office for a detailed list of scholarships available and for current applications.  Priority deadline for scholarship applications is April 30th unless indicated otherwise.

Steps to apply for Federal Student Aid at NCKTC (School Code 005265)

  1. Complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) located at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
    Needs to be completed as soon as Income Tax Information is available, but not before January 1 of enrollment year. Reasonable timeline - March through May (North Central Kansas Technical College, (School Code - 005265)

  2. An Award Letter will be sent from the college indicating the student aid that you are eligible to receive.
    Requirement to receive the Award Letter: Proof of enrollment, successful completion of FAFSA
    Reasonable timeline - June 1 through July 15.
    * If you do not receive an Award Letter within 30 days after enrollment, contact your Financial Aid Administrator.

  3. Complete a Master Promissory Note which authorizes the college to secure funds in your name through the lending Institution of your choice.
    The college may suggest lenders if you have no preference. Reasonable timeline - should be completed anytime after receiving the Award Letter but prior to the start of classes. (Funds will not be released to First year students until 30 days after the start of classes.)

  4. College will solicit eligible Pell grants funds, Stafford loans and PLUS (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Student) loans based on student eligibility and accepted Award amounts from the Award Letter.
    Reasonable timeline - Funds cannot be disbursed until 30 days after classes start for First year students.
    NOTICE: Prior to disbursement of Federal Funds, student MUST:
    Provide all documentation required by the college...

    1. Acceptable FAFSA Must be on file.
    2. Must have a signed Award Letter.
    3. Completed Master Promissory Note.
    4. Supplied All Required documents to the college.
      1. Enrollment form
      2. Transcript
      3. Entrance Testing
    5. Complete Entrance Counseling for Federal Student Loans.
    6. In order to receive second disbursement, student MUST maintain enrollment and demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement (GPA 2.0 or better).

NOTE: Fees are collected on a semester basis, and Financial Aid Disbursements are made also on a semester basis.
