A partnership between North Central Kansas Technical College and Fort Hays State University

What are you looking for in your college experience?

 

Are you looking for quality technical education?  Do you have your heart set on attending Fort Hays State University after North Central Kansas Technical College?  Would you like to experience FHSU campus life while at NCKTC?  If so, the Gateway Plan may be for you.  North Central Kansas Technical College has partnered with Fort Hays State University to bring you a unique college opportunity.  the Gateway Plan gives you student access to FHSU campus activities and programs while you take college credits from NCKTC that will later transfer.

To help you meet your long-term education and career goals, the Gateway Plan offers you three different paths, each a direct route to the Bachelor's degree of your choice.  Working with an advisor at NCKTC, you will determine which path is right for you.  NCKTC offers general education courses, and two-year certificates, and an Associate of Applied Science degree program.  With over 60 undergraduate degree programs such as nursing, information networking and telecommunications, technology leadership, and business, Fort Hays State University is sure to have a degree program that's right for you.

Best of all, while a student at NCKTC, you have special access to the Fort Hays State University campus, including sporting events, campus activities, the student health center, the library, and even on-campus housing and dining.  It's the best of both worlds!

 

Gateway 1 - University Path

 

Take a variety of courses from NCKTC that will transfer to FHSU.

  • 24 hours of General Education credit
  • 18 hours of General Education credit + 6 hours of transferable elective technical education credit
  • 24 hours of any transferable credit

Gateway 2 - Certificate Path

 

Follow a more directed plan of study aimed at providing you transferable credit to FHSU and teaching employable skills that you can then use to help support yourself as you work towards a degree a FHSU.

  • 30 - 45 credit hours at NCKTC

Gateway Plan 3 - Associate Degree Path

 

Get the education and develop the skills you need to obtain an entry-level career upon graduation from NCKTC.  Then, build upon that college credit and career potential by earning a bachelor's degree from FHSU.

  • 62 - 70 credit hours at NCKTC

Experience Campus Life at FHSU

 

In addition to getting you on the right track to complete a bachelor's degree, the Gateway Plan gives NCKTC students full access to various FHSU events, programs and services through the Student Privilege Fee Program.  As part of this program, you may choose to:

  • Live in on-campus student housing
  • Attend all FHSU Athletics events for free
  • Have complete access to the Student Health Center, Kelly Center, Wellness Center and Forsyth Library
  • Participate in student activities on campus, such as shows, intramurals and clubs

On-Campus Housing

 

As part of the Student Privilege Fee Program, you have the option to live on the FHSU campus in a residence hall or campus apartment.  Even if you don't live on campus, you still have access to many activities and support services available to FHSU students.

There are a few important things to know about living on the FHSU campus:

  • You must be officially enrolled at NCKTC
  • You must abide by all policies in the "FHSU Student Rights and Responsibilities" statement, the "Residential Life Policy Handbook" and housing contract
  • You are subject to the FHSU student conduct review process
  • You have the option of participating in the meal plan
  • Access to the meal plan and on-campus housing is subject to the FHSU schedule
