One Year Certificate
(CIP Code: 46.0302)
The NCKTC Hays Electrical Department offers two electrical programs.
The first year, Residential Electricity, prepares the student to work wiring homes and businesses under the direction of an experienced electrician. The student receives the education and training needed to install, maintain and troubleshoot many electrical devices and equipment.
No previous experience in electricity is required, but applicants should have a math and science background. Students explore topics such as electrical theory, basic circuits, wiring practices, electronics, blueprint reading, and motor controls. Trade practices and National Electrical Code requirements for electrical wiring are stressed.
Additionally, students serve a half semester in the
electrical field with an electrical contractor or a
company involved in electrical maintenance. Required general education courses are Math, Psychology, and Computer Applications.
Successful students will receive a one-year certificate. |
